<p>As we face the demands of our modern society, rushing here and there, with technology everywhere, it is even more important to find time to slow down &#8211; Restorative yoga is the perfect remedy in this busy, modern world that we live in.</p>
<p>Join Jess for a workshop which begins with a slow and meditative flow, followed by Restorative yoga.</p>
<p>Restorative yoga is a passive and deeply therapeutic form of yoga that provides deep rest, relaxation and rejuvenation for the body and entire nervous system.</p>
<p>We use yoga props (bolsters, blocks / bricks, blankets and eye pillows) to support and nourish the body down to the cellular level.</p>
<p>Restorative yoga helps boost the parasympathetic nervous system; taking us into this mode of ‘rest and digest’ which enables us to reduce stress, boost the immune system, boost the nervous system and improves capacity for healing and balance in the body.</p>
<p>Restorative yoga is also fantastic for insomnia, anxiety, exhaustion, depression, headaches, in addition to a host of other medical conditions.</p>

			<p>Resilience is not about being Strong</p>

<p>Life is a series of challenges from big life changes to those days when you feel you have it all together then suddenly everything hits you at once.</p>
<p>Those demands have been likened to surfing a wave and surfing requires FOCUS &#8211; catching the right wave, LEARNING &#8211; how to get up on that board, BALANCE- staying up and flowing with the wave, ADAPTABILITY &#8211; getting back on and trying again each time you fall off.</p>
<p>In this workshop we will explore how our yoga practice can help us navigate between the ups and downs of life’s demands. Our practice will focus on techniques to access, stimulate and tone the Wanderer within us &#8211; The Vagus Nerve.</p>
<p>The Vagus is a communication super highway which travels though us and relays a nonstop stream of information between the body and the brain and is key to physical and psychological resilience. It plays a key role in our parasympathetic nervous system which is responsible for our rest and digest capacities and is a calming and soothing force in our bodies.</p>
<p>It regulates heart and breath rate, most of our organs, and digestive tract. It’s involved in eye contact, facial expressions, controls our voice tone and manages the release of hormones. The management and processing of emotions happens via the vagus between the heart, brain and gut which is why we have a strong gut reaction to intense mental and emotional states. A flexible, as well as a strong vagal response is a necessary component in our body’s ability to relax faster and recover from stressful situations.</p>

<p>* simple breath, mindfulness, movement, self- body work and guided relaxation practices</p>
<p>* most importantly &#8211; time to allow space to experience what is present</p>
<p>These practices can have a wealth of positive effects on how we manage taking care of ourself mind, body and spirit.</p>

We will start with a 45 minute flow, suitable for ALL levels, followed by herbal teas and guided journaling activities. This workshop will give you the opportunity to take time out of your schedule and reconnect with yourself in a safe, supportive environment.</p>
<p>All you need to bring along with you is a notepad/ paper and a pen.</p>
<p>All proceeds from this event will be donated to the children’s mental health charity Young Minds. Approximately 3 children in every classroom have a mental health problem and more children and young people than ever before are reaching out for help with their mental health. Join us at our workshop to support this incredible charity.</p>
